PSAT/SAT
This SAT Math prep course focuses on tackling the most challenging problems on the Math section of the test. The course covers high-difficulty topics such as complex algebra, multi-step word problems, nonlinear functions, advanced geometry, and tricky data analysis.
Students will learn proven strategies to break down difficult questions, avoid common traps, and work efficiently under time pressure. Emphasis is placed on pattern recognition, logical reasoning, and combining multiple concepts in a single problem

Multiple Flexible Options
If none of our existing programs work for your child, but you have an idea how we can help them achieve their math goals, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Here are some of the ways in which our programs can be customized:
Private Lessons
One-on-one instruction is available to students who need extra attention before they are placed into one of EMC program levels or groups. Private lessons still cover the EMC curriculum, customized to meet our students where they are and get them where they need to be.
Instruction can start at any date and continue for as long as needed. Lesson plan, schedule and payment plan will be advised after the student completes a free evaluation. Please contact us for more information.
Summer Intensive
This summer program covers 38 weeks worth of EMC curriculum in just 7 weeks. Students take this course to either strengthen existing skills or accelerate new learning. It’s great for students who may have missed some classes or struggled during the year and need a review. It’s also perfect for advanced students, who feel that they are ready to accelerate at a faster pace or skip a level. The latter would need a recommendation from an EMC instructor in order to join the program. Please contact us if you think your student qualifies.
Math Events & Group Lessons
Thinking about hosting a math event at your school, home, or club? Our instructors can help you conduct fun math lessons at various community events. We can also accommodate existing groups of students, who want to learn together. Instruction can take place in-person or online. Please contact us for more information and ideas!
Instructor Training
We offer training sessions for instructors, tutors, and parents who homeschool their children and seek guidance. This is also great for teachers who are interested in teaching at EMC! Please contact us to learn more.
EMC competition teams and classes expose students to the non-standard challenges of math competitions in a supportive, small-group environment. Regardless of which specific math competition you participate in, our classes will help your students learn to think critically. Our classes are designed to train mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and to practice those skills in a ‘controlled stress’ environment.

AMC 8 Class Details
Grade 7-9
This course is suitable for students looking to prepare for Math Competitions at the Grade 7-8 level (approximately Prealgebra - Algebra 1) with a focus on AMC 8.
*Students in Gr.9 are welcome to attend the class for practice; however, participating in the AMC8 competition itself is prohibited, and 9th graders are required to sit for the AMC10 exam.
**Advanced Gr.5+6 students who have some experience with the math competitions or a minimum of Prealgebra coursework may also find this course beneficial.
Course Description: AMC 10 Competition Preparation
This rigorous course is specifically designed for students in grades 9-10 (and advanced 7th-8th graders) seeking to prepare for the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC 10). The program focuses on developing the strong problem-solving skills, creative reasoning, and strategic thinking required to succeed in this prestigious high school contest.
Topics include algebra, counting and probability, number theory, and geometry, with an emphasis on creative reasoning and efficient solution methods.
Students will explore a wide range of challenging problems that require insight, pattern recognition, and strategic thinking. The course highlights common problem types and teaches techniques such as working backward, using symmetry, and simplifying complex expressions.
Through guided practice and timed problem sets, students will build accuracy, speed, and confidence. By the end of the course, students will be well-equipped to approach AMC 10 problems with clarity and strong problem-solving strategies.
Key Focus Areas at this Level:
Algebra: Mastering complex expression manipulation, including power laws and factoring tricks, linear and quadratic systems, polynomials (including finding roots and remainders), exponents, and logarithms.
Geometry: Application of geometric concepts and theorems, including circle angle theorems and Trigonometry concepts. This also includes applying principles to triangles, quadrilaterals, cyclic quadrilaterals, and working with analytic geometry (2D and 3D).
Counting and Probability (Combinatorics): Advanced counting principles, including permutation and combination, Pigeon-hole principle, and Set Theory (Unions, Intersections, and Venn diagrams).
Number Theory: Core concepts such as prime factorization, GCD and LCM, and modular arithmetic (integer remainder)
Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable with Algebra A/Algebra 1/Intro to Algeebra (including manipulation of expressions, terms, and variables) and able to find area, perimeter, volume, and surface area of basic 2D and 3D shapes, including circles. Some coursework in Algebra B and/or Geometry is considered an asset.
