Time helps us understand how long things take and when events happen. We measure time in units like seconds, minutes, hours, and days. One of the most common ways to read time is by using a clock. A clock has numbers from 1 to 12 and hands that point to those numbers. The short hand, called the hour hand, tells us the current hour. It moves slowly from one number to the next as time passes.
When the hour hand points exactly at a number, we say “o’clock.” For example, if the hour hand points to 3, it is 3 o’clock. As the day goes on, the hour hand moves around the clock to show different hours. Learning to read hours helps you know when to wake up, go to school, play, and go to bed. With practice, telling time becomes easy and fun!
